THE WORLDS FIRST UNOFFICIAL FOOTDOWN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!
FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY! This year for NW Tune Up Fest we've teamed up with Good Times Crew to host the most definitely, positively, surely... Worlds First Unofficial Footdown World Championships. What is this you ask?! Details below.
What is footdown?
- Setup: A circular area, often marked by cones or other objects, is established as the arena.
- Start: Riders begin riding within the circle, usually in the same direction.
- Objective: The goal is to be the last rider remaining without putting a foot on the ground or exiting the boundaries of the arena.
- Elimination: A rider is eliminated if they touch a foot to the ground or are forced outside the designated area.
- Strategies: Players can use tactics such as track standing (balancing in place) to block opponents or steer them out of bounds. Bumping nudging, and heckling are allowed.
Winner takes all!
Whats the prize you ask? Only the most ultimate shuttle rig on this planet; a 1989 Chevy Vuck that was once a Gambler 500 in a past life! This thing is a real beaut and not only will it turn heads, but it'll also blow ear drums in the process. With a Yakima HangTight and a $4000 light package from Baja Designs out valuing the Vuck itself, you know it'll be worth rolling into the arena.
Who can enter?
Since the finals will take place at Structures Brewing late on Friday night, you must be 21 or older to enter to win the Vuck. 20 and younger can enter to win a full Tenet group set at NW Tune Up.
How do I enter?
Sign up at the Vamos booth at NW Tune Up starting at 9:00 AM. We will begin compiling qualifying groups to compete on site. The last two riders of each group will advance to the semi-finals and finals that night at Structures Brewing Holly St. Youth finals will happen on site at NW Tune Up at 4:00PM
- 21+ = $30
- Under 21 = $10
HOT TIPS & RULES!
- Your bike will likely get bumped into! We advise that you use a bike you might not care so much about. We are not responsible if your bike is damaged!
- Contact is allowed but you are not allowed to take your hands off the bike to kick or push. If you take your hands off and push you will be automatically eliminated.
- The Referee is king. If you are eliminated, no arguing. Kindly exit the area with your dignity.
- Helmets are required!
- 2 wheels or less, NO TRIKES!
- Spectators are allowed to heckle but NO TOUCHING or interfering with the competitors. Be as loud as you want! The louder the better.
