Our rim, from the start.
A custom asymmetric profile, a welded seam and extra material placed around the bead and spoke bed.

Includes 2 decals, one for each wheel.
When it comes to designing products we have an internal trifecta we must hit; high quality, durability, and affordability. We took a look at the aluminum wheel market and most brands hit only one, maaaayybe two of those bullet points and we felt we could do better. Introducing the Coven AL Wheelset: Our debut into the world of mountain bike wheels. Most brands are satisfied with simply slapping their logo onto an open mold rim and calling it good. We know that’s not enough and set out to design a rim that would outperform our competition.

Coven AL 1/1 Wheelset
Good alloy wheels deserve more than an afterthought. We built the Coven around our own rim profile, Industry Nine hubs and a hand-built finish. Put together for the bikes we ride and the choices that make them ours.

Why this one
A custom asymmetric profile, a welded seam and extra material placed around the bead and spoke bed.
Industry Nine 1/1 hubs and a hand-built wheelset. The complete build matters just as much as the individual parts.
Choose wheel sizes, finishes and cassette body in the builder above. Check your bike’s axle and drivetrain requirements first.
A closer look

The Coven rim uses a 3 mm asymmetric offset. Moving the spoke bed off-center helps balance spoke tension between the two sides of the wheel, where the hub’s shape creates different bracing angles. It’s a detail you might not notice at first glance, but it matters to the complete build.
The profile is 30 mm wide internally and 20 mm tall. We chose a shallow shape with vertical compliance in mind, and kept material around the broad hookless bead and spoke bed. The goal is a rim designed around riding, not just its appearance in a spec table.

The Coven starts with our own rim profile in 6069-T6 aluminum, joined with a welded seam. Designing the extrusion lets us make decisions about the bead, spoke bed and overall shape together, rather than simply choosing a finish for an existing profile.
The finish gets the same attention. Polishing, masking and media blasting create the contrast in the rim graphics. Alloy wheels deserve thoughtful details too, especially on a bike you’ve spent time making your own.

A good rim is the beginning, not the whole wheel. The Coven wheelset pairs our rims with Industry Nine 1/1 hubs and 32 spokes per wheel in a hand-built assembly. The hub, spokes and rim all contribute to the finished wheel, so the build deserves as much attention as the individual components.
Rim tape and valve stems are included with the front and rear wheels. If you’re planning a tubeless setup, you’ll still need suitable tires and sealant, and should follow the relevant setup guidance before the first ride.

We built the Coven to be ridden, and we’ll back it up when things go wrong. Our lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects for the original purchaser, with additional coverage for rims damaged under normal riding conditions.
A dent that stops the rim holding air, a cracked bead, a separated seam or a crack at a spoke hole falls under our rim warranty. A dented rim that still holds air falls under crash replacement instead.
Warranty rim replacements carry a $30 flat-rate shipping fee; any service or shop fees are the rider’s responsibility. Read the full coverage details and submit a claim through the link below. If you’re unsure where your damage fits, get in touch and we’ll help.
